The Municipality of Greenstone advises residents and businesses that the Nakina Landfill hours of operation will be changing effective Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

The Spring Clean Up Program offers curbside collection of bulky household waste for residential properties only. Collection will occur on your regular garbage day for Geraldton from May 12-15; Longlac from May 19-21; and Beardmore, Rural West, Rural East, and Nakina from May 25-29.
On Monday, May 25, 2026, the Council of the Municipality of Greenstone will hold a public meeting, pursuant to Section 7. (6) of the Ontario Building Code Act, 1992, S.O. 1992, c.23 to consider amending the building permit fee schedule to implement an annual adjustment to building permit fees based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The Municipality of Greenstone has a dog in care that was found running at large in the Geraldton Ward. Please call 807-854-1100 to claim. The dog will be kept in care with the Municipality for up to 72 hours.
A preliminary investigation into the recent fire at the Longlac Sportsplex has identified extensive structural damage to portions of the roof.
