Ward Office Closures for Elections Training

The Municipality of Greenstone was pleased to host the year-end Youth Soccer Wind-Up celebrations in the communities of Geraldton on Monday, Sept 21st and Longlac on Tuesday, Sept 22nd. This year's season welcomed a total of 61 youth participants, including 23 in Geraldton and 38 in Longlac. A sincere thank you goes out to our incredible volunteer coaches who dedicated their time and energy to making this season possible!

Beardmore Ward Office Closed Remainder of day today Thursday October 1, 2026

Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) will be performing fall maintenance by flushing hydrants and exercising valves throughout Greenstone beginning Thursday, October 1st, for approximately 2½ weeks.

Council of the Municipality of Greenstone has proclaimed September 30th as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and raised the Every Child Matters flag in recognition. As we remember and reflect, we honour the survivors of residential schools and commemorate the Indigenous children who never returned home. This day provides an opportunity for our community to acknowledge this painful history, listen, learn, and continue the work of reconciliation.

There’s a lot more happening beneath Main Street than what you’ll eventually see on the surface.

As excavation continues, crews are uncovering the conditions that contributed to years of heaving, cracking and uneven pavement - including irregular rock, deteriorated base materials and pockets of organic material.

The project is addressing these issues from the ground up, with underground infrastructure replacement, removal of unsuitable materials and construction of a stronger, more consistent road foundation designed for Northern Ontario conditions.

Much of this important work will eventually be hidden beneath the finished road.

The Municipality of Greenstone is advising residents that an emergency response exercise will be taking place at the Nakina Airport today, September 23.

Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency response vehicles and personnel in and around the airport during the exercise.

This is a planned training exercise. There is no emergency, and no action is required from the public.
