Following the Province of Ontario’s announcement of up to $3,662,526 in funding for the Centennial Drive Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project, the Municipality of Greenstone continues to move this important infrastructure project forward. Approved by Council through the Municipality’s 2026 Capital Budget, the project is supported through the Province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program - Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS) and will rehabilitate storm sewer infrastructure along Centennial Drive and Skinner Avenue.
The Municipality of Greenstone is pleased to announce the completion of 2026 capital improvements at Greenstone Renald Y. Beaulieu Regional Airport (CYGQ) which was approved by Council through the 2026 Capital Budget.
Great progress is being made at the Geraldton Community Centre, with the renovation project now more than 50% complete! Finishing touch ups will occur after the ice season starts, with completion expected by Mar 31/27. This project is supported by a $749,050 investment from the Ontario government through the CSRIF as part of the larger $1.5 million renovation initiative.
The Municipality of Greenstone is pleased to announce that the Beardmore Snowman Restoration Project is nearly 100% complete, with only a few minor touch-ups remaining before the project is fully finished. Approved by Council through the 2026 Municipal Capital Budget, the project was supported with 75% funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC).
As part of the Main Street Rehabilitation Project, John Avenue is currently closed at its west end. This closure is in addition to the existing west-end closures of Edith Avenue, Queen Avenue, and King Avenue.
The Municipality of Greenstone is pleased to announce that the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) - Longlac will reopen on Tuesday, August 4, with regular programming resuming at the Centre. To assist with the transition, the scheduled bus trip to Geraldton will still operate on Tuesday, August 4 for participants wishing to attend Carpet Bowling. Following this date, transportation to Geraldton will no longer be provided, as programming will once again be available at the SALC - Longlac.
Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek and the Municipality of Greenstone are proud to announce their participation in the Community Economic Development Initiative (CEDI), a national program delivered jointly by Cando (the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers) and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). CEDI seeks to support First Nations and neighbouring municipalities to build respectful and equitable partnerships, and to develop capacity for long-term planning for joint community economic development and land use.
