Following the Province of Ontario’s announcement of up to $3,662,526 in funding for the Centennial Drive Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project, the Municipality of Greenstone continues to move this important infrastructure project forward. Approved by Council through the Municipality’s 2026 Capital Budget, the project is supported through the Province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program - Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS) and will rehabilitate storm sewer infrastructure along Centennial Drive and Skinner Avenue.
The Municipality of Greenstone is pleased to announce the completion of 2026 capital improvements at Greenstone Renald Y. Beaulieu Regional Airport (CYGQ) which was approved by Council through the 2026 Capital Budget.
Great progress is being made at the Geraldton Community Centre, with the renovation project now more than 50% complete! Finishing touch ups will occur after the ice season starts, with completion expected by Mar 31/27. This project is supported by a $749,050 investment from the Ontario government through the CSRIF as part of the larger $1.5 million renovation initiative.
The Municipality of Greenstone is pleased to announce that the Beardmore Snowman Restoration Project is nearly 100% complete, with only a few minor touch-ups remaining before the project is fully finished. Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek and the Municipality of Greenstone are proud to announce their participation in the Community Economic Development Initiative (CEDI), a national program delivered jointly by Cando (the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers) and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). CEDI seeks to support First Nations and neighbouring municipalities to build respectful and equitable partnerships, and to develop capacity for long-term planning for joint community economic development and land use.
The Municipality of Greenstone continues to invest in reliable emergency services with the addition of four new fire apparatus to its fleet.
Earlier this year, a new tanker, funded through the Municipality's 2025 Capital Budget, was received and placed into service in April. The Municipality has now also taken delivery of three new pumper/tanker fire trucks, funded through the 2026 Capital Budget. Together, these investments represent a significant step forward in modernizing Greenstone's fire fleet and ensuring firefighters have the equipment they need to respond safely and effectively across the municipality.
The new fire apparatus will be strategically placed at fire stations throughout Greenstone, ensuring reliable emergency response capabilities across the Municipality's large geographic area while replacing aging equipment.
The Municipality of Greenstone welcomed The Honourable Kevin Holland, MPP for Thunder Bay–Atikokan, to Greenstone on May 1 to announce a significant provincial investment supporting the rehabilitation of the Centennial Drive Storm Sewer.
Greenstone Council has approved a new Use of Municipal Property By-Law to better regulate activities occurring on municipal lands and address ongoing community concerns related to unauthorized use.
