The Municipality of Greenstone would like to advise all participants of the Greenstone Seniors Active Living Centre - Geraldton (SALC) that, due to ongoing construction at the Geraldton Community Centre, the front entrance is temporarily closed. During construction, all SALC participants are required to use the west entrance to access the facility.

The Municipality of Greenstone has an intact male dog in care that was found in the Geraldton Ward. Please call 807-854-1100 to claim. The dog will be kept in care with the Municipality for up to 72 hours.

Whether you're building something new or making improvements to an existing property, a building permit may be required before construction begins.

Building permits help ensure your project complies with the Ontario Building Code, municipal by-laws, and applicable safety standards, protecting both your investment and the people who use the building. Greenstone's building permits are managed through the Cloudpermit online system, allowing you to apply, track your application, and request inspections online.

The Municipality of Greenstone advises residents that the Greenstone Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) - Longlac will be temporarily closed effective Monday, July 27, 2026, until a new SALC Coordinator has been recruited. The Municipality of Greenstone was pleased to host the year-end Youth Baseball Wind-Up celebrations in the communities of Geraldton on Monday, July 20th and Longlac on Tuesday, July 21st. This year's season welcomed a total of 119 youth participants, including 40 in Geraldton and 79 in Longlac. A sincere thank you goes out to our incredible volunteer coaches who dedicated their time and energy to making this season possible!

The Municipality of Greenstone is inviting sealed tenders for the purchase and redevelopment of the surplus property municipally known as 66 Main Street, Jellicoe, Ontario. The property is being offered for sale on an “as-is, where-is” basis through a public tender process intended to encourage redevelopment and productive reuse of the site. Tenders will be accepted until August 12, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

The phone lines have been restored at the Greenstone Administration Office.

The Municipality of Greenstone continues to invest in reliable emergency services with the addition of four new fire apparatus to its fleet.

Earlier this year, a new tanker, funded through the Municipality's 2025 Capital Budget, was received and placed into service in April. The Municipality has now also taken delivery of three new pumper/tanker fire trucks, funded through the 2026 Capital Budget. Together, these investments represent a significant step forward in modernizing Greenstone's fire fleet and ensuring firefighters have the equipment they need to respond safely and effectively across the municipality.

The new fire apparatus will be strategically placed at fire stations throughout Greenstone, ensuring reliable emergency response capabilities across the Municipality's large geographic area while replacing aging equipment.

The Lakeside Centre Boat Launch in the Longlac Ward will be closed on Saturday, July 18th until 5:00 p.m. due to Summerfest activities taking place in the area.
