General Information

A reminder to all property owners and occupants to keep grass and vegetation properly maintained throughout the growing season. Under the Clean Yards By-law, grass must generally be kept at 20 cm (8 inches) or less, and vegetation must not obstruct sidewalks, roads, sightlines, or utilities. Failure to comply may result in enforcement action.

We are aware of an active forest fire Southeast of Longlac and Ginoogaming, between Hwy 11 and Caramat. The MNRF is actively actioning this fire. To report any new forest fires - call 911 for fires within the communities, and 310-FIRE (3473) for forest fires outside of the communities.

The Municipality of Greenstone is inviting sealed tenders for the purchase and redevelopment of the surplus property municipally known as 105 Thom Street, Longlac, Ontario. The property is being offered for sale on an “as-is, where-is” basis through a public tender process intended to encourage redevelopment and productive reuse of the site.

Please be advised that all non-emergency municipal services and facilities will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, to allow staff to attend a Municipality of Greenstone Staff Appreciation BBQ.

The Community Clean-Up Challenge runs from May 15 to June 10/26, inviting residents, families, friends, and schools to help clean local public spaces. Participants can register individually, in groups of up to five, or by classroom, and supplies are available at local ward offices. A photo submission is required to enter the prize draw, with winners announced June 11/26. Let’s work together to create a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful community for everyone!

All Municipal offices and facilities will be closed on Mon May 18th due to the Victoria Day holiday. Garbage collection normally scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled to Tuesday.

The Municipality of Greenstone is encouraging local community groups and organizations to take advantage of its Municipal Grants Program, a funding initiative designed to support events, programs, and services that enhance community life.
