Capital Project Update - Hamel Avenue Sanitary Sewer Replacement

The Municipality of Greenstone would like to advise residents that work on the Hamel Avenue Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project will begin on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 and is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.

The project will replace the sanitary sewer system located between the Longlac Fire Hall and the Municipal Public Works Garage. The existing infrastructure has been identified as requiring replacement as part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to maintain reliable wastewater infrastructure.

This project is a prime example of the importance of the Municipality’s Consolidated Linear Infrastructure Environmental Compliance Approval (CLI-ECA) requirements, which include the regular inspection, monitoring and maintenance of municipal sewer infrastructure. Proactive inspections help identify infrastructure concerns before they develop into more significant failures, allowing the Municipality to plan necessary repairs and replacements.

No road closures are planned during this project. Traffic control measures will be used as necessary to allow vehicles to safely travel through the work area. Motorists are asked to use caution, reduce their speed and follow the direction of workers and posted signage when travelling through the area.

The Municipality appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and motorists while this important infrastructure work is completed.
