Capital Project Update - Centennial Drive & Skinner Avenue Storm Sewer Rehabilitation
Following the Province of Ontario’s announcement of up to $3,662,526 in funding for the Centennial Drive Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project, the Municipality of Greenstone continues to move this important infrastructure project forward.
Approved by Council through the Municipality’s 2026 Capital Budget, the project is supported through the Province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program - Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS) and will rehabilitate storm sewer infrastructure along Centennial Drive and Skinner Avenue.
Planned work includes replacement of storm sewer pipes, pipe sub-drains, catch basins and manholes, reconstruction of four catch basins, road sub-grade repairs, concrete curb and gutter installation, asphalt removal and replacement, and restoration of affected areas.
Affected portions of Centennial Drive and Skinner Avenue will also be reconstructed, allowing improvements to the underground infrastructure and road surface to be completed together.
The project is expected to go to tender in October, in advance of the next construction season. Tendering in the fall gives contractors more time to plan their upcoming workload, secure materials and coordinate equipment and crews before the busy construction season begins. This can encourage greater competition among bidders and help the Municipality obtain more competitive pricing and better overall value for the project. It also provides additional time for project planning so work can begin as early as practical during the next construction season.
Additional information regarding construction timelines, traffic impacts and the areas included in the project will be shared as the project progresses.
The Municipality appreciates the Province of Ontario’s significant investment in this critical infrastructure project and looks forward to moving the project toward construction.
