The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) has issued a swimming advisory after water samples taken August 6, 2025 from the Geraldton Waterfront have come back with elevated levels of E. coli. Swimming in water that contains higher levels of E. coli increases the risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose and throat infections, or gastrointestinal illness. The Municipality of Greenstone invites qualified food service providers to submit an Expression of Interest for Canteen Operators. The Community Centres in Geraldton and Longlac are equipped with a canteen facility. The opportunity to operate one or more of the canteens for the upcoming 2025-2026 winter season (approximately October to April) is solicited. One lane will remain closed overnight. Both lanes will once again be closed when work resumes in the morning (August 15).

By-Law 09-48 and recent communications included measurements in gallons. To align with current Canadian standards, all measurements will be enforced in metric units. Collection staff must be able to lift cans for dumping to minimize waste handling for their health and safety.
