The Municipality of Greenstone conducts annual Spring Clean Up activities to provide curbside waste collection services for large items and to promote community beautification. We will announce all spring clean up collection days through our newsfeed.

Expanded Residential Curbside Waste Collection

Once a year, the Municipality schedules a waste collection event for large and bulky items. On the scheduled pick-up date for your neighbourhood, Public Works crews will collect additional items placed at the roadside on your regular garbage day. Check the municipal website for advertising of the event.

Accepted items

Waste items accepted in the expanded curbside waste collection include:

  • Recyclables (i.e. scrap metal, appliances, electronic waste, and tires)
  • Household items (i.e. furniture and mattresses)
  • Yard waste

Please ensure that you mark your refrigeration appliances with a Freon Tag, otherwise it will not be picked up. You can buy these tags at our Administration Office located at 1800 Main Street in Geraldton or any Ward Office.

Not accepted items

Items not accepted in the expanded curbside waste collection include:

  • Demolition materials (i.e. shingles, dismantled sheds, asphalt, and concrete)
  • Household hazardous waste (i.e. paint and fertilizers)
  • Felled trees

Community clean-up events

If you or a group of people want to help keep our community clean, join one of our organized community clean-up events. The Municipality will provide garbage bags and gloves to anyone who would like to participate in keeping our community clean during these events. To get involved, contact us by email.
