The Snow Windrow Removal Program for Eligible Low Income Persons is available to help senior or disabled residents with clearing snow from residential driveway entrances left behind from a snowplow.
How to apply
You will need to apply annually for this service between September 1 and October 1.
Registration forms will be posted here during this period.
Program eligibility
To qualify for this program, you need to be:
- A resident of the Municipality of Greenstone; and
- A senior over the age of 65 or disabled resident with proof of disability; and
- In receipt of a payment under the Guaranteed Income Supplement Act or the Ontario Disability Support Program Act on or before the application deadline of October 1 of the current year
How the program works
We provide help to senior or disabled individuals who are not physically able to clear snow that blocks a driveway, boulevard or sidewalk.
After municipal roads are cleared, we will:
- Clear one entrance per primary property only
- Remove snow from roadway entrance the width of one car to allow access
- Aim to remove snow within 48 hours
We do not clear snow from your entire driveway, just from the entrance where snow windrow can build up from the plow. Service timeline will depend on how quickly staff can clear municipal roads.
