Help Keep Pets Safe: Practice Responsible Pet Ownership in Greenstone

To help reduce the number of lost, stray, or at-large animals, all owners are strongly encouraged to follow responsible pet ownership guidelines.

Responsible pet ownership includes:

🐾 Licensing your pet with the Municipality

🐾 Tagging, microchipping, and collaring

🐾 Keeping your dogs on lead and/or under control

🐾 Ensuring pets are up-to-date with shots

🐾 Having your pet spayed or neutered

When an animal has ID, it can be quickly returned to its owner if found by a member of the public minimizing stress on the animal. 

Due to extreme pressures on animal rescue centres, shelters, and pet charities across the province, the Municipality of Greenstone is unable to hold abandoned animals until they find homes. If you are interested in joining a list to foster abandoned dogs, please contact the local pet rescue.
