The nomination period is now open for high school students to apply for a Student Councillor position with the Municipality of Greenstone. Student Councillors will sit with Council as representatives of the youth in the Municipality of Greenstone at all Council meetings open to the public. This will be a unique leadership and learning opportunity offering the opportunity to learn how the municipal level of government works, how citizens are represented, how decisions are made, how budget is distributed across the municipality, how priorities are established and many other important components of local governance. Student Councillors will have the opportunity to represent the voice of Greenstone youth at the Council table.
Position Qualifications:
- Entering grade 10, 11 or 12 in 2025
- Attending GCHS or ESCJ
- Resident of the Municipality of Greenstone
The deadline to apply is Friday May 23.
