Expanded Curbside Waste Collection
This program provides curbside collection of household bulky waste.
The expanded curbside collection is for residential properties only.
Schedule
- May 12-15, 2026 - Geraldton Ward
- May 19-21, 2026 - Longlac Ward
- May 25-29, 2026 - Beardmore Ward, Rural Ward West, Rural Ward East, and Nakina Ward
Public Works crews will collect additional items placed at the roadside on your regular garbage day. Collection may occur in stages, with separate vehicles picking up different waste types.
Waste items ACCEPTED in the expanded curbside waste collection include:
· Recyclables (i.e. scrap metal, appliances, electronic waste, and tires)
· Household items (i.e. furniture and mattresses)
· Yard waste (bagged and/or bundled leaves, grass, twigs)
Sort materials into the following groups: Yard waste, tires, electronics, metals/appliances (freon tags required for fridges/freezers), furniture, and household items.
Materials that are not sorted will not be collected. Property owners will be responsible for their disposal under Clean Yards By-Law 24-04.
Items NOT ACCEPTED in the expanded curbside waste collection include:
· Demolition materials (i.e. shingles, dismantled sheds, drywall, asphalt, and concrete)
· Household hazardous waste (i.e. paint and fertilizers)
· Felled trees
Please ensure that you mark your refrigeration appliances with a Freon Tag, otherwise it will not be picked up. You can buy these tags at our Administration Office located at 1800 Main Street in Geraldton or any Ward Office.
