Municipal Grants Program

The Municipality of Greenstone is encouraging local community groups and organizations to take advantage of its Municipal Grants Program, a funding initiative designed to support events, programs, and services that enhance community life.

The program offers both financial assistance and in-kind contributions, such as access to municipal facilities, equipment, and staff support. It is aimed at helping organizations deliver projects that are open to the public and contribute to the social, cultural, and recreational vitality of the community. In 2025 the Municipality contributed over $70,000 in financial support and over $35,000 in in-kind support to community groups and organizations.

The grants are intended to be distributed fairly and consistently, while recognizing the important role volunteers and community organizations play in making Greenstone community events happen. Eligible projects typically promote community pride, support tourism and the local economy, and improve overall quality of life for residents.

Eligibility

To be considered, applicants must demonstrate that their event or initiative benefits the broader Greenstone community. Priority is given to projects that are open to all residents, promote the municipality as a place to live or visit, and foster community engagement, inclusivity, and well-being.

Community Event Grants are available for both one-time and recurring events, while in-kind support can help reduce operational costs by providing resources instead of direct funding.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply well in advance of their event or project to allow sufficient time for review. Submissions are first evaluated by municipal staff before being forwarded to Council for final approval, making early applications key to ensuring consideration and support.

The Municipality notes that while the program provides valuable support, it is not intended to fully fund initiatives, but rather to help organizations bring their ideas to life.
