Municipal Fire Ban Lifted August 20, 2026
The Municipal fire ban implemented on July 12, 2026 will be lifted effective 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026. This coincides with the Ministry of Natural Resources lifting of the Restricted Fire Zone for the region.
Within the Municipality of Greenstone, a burn permit is required for open-air burning at each address where burning will take place. Recreational burn permits are free. The application process provides the necessary information regarding rules and requirements, and how to have a safe of a fire as possible. Permits can be obtained online at greenstone.burnpermits.com or by visiting any Ward Office.
If you had an active 2026 burn permit prior to the fire ban, your permit is still valid and no action is required.
Thank you to residents and visitors for respecting the efforts to minimize accidental forest fire ignitions in our area. We appreciate everyone's continued commitment to enjoying recreational activities safely and responsibly.
To report a forest fire, call 911 for fires within the communities, and 310-FIRE(3473) for forest fires outside of the communities.
