Greenstone Seniors Active Living Centre – Longlac Update
July 31, 2026 UPDATE
The Municipality of Greenstone is pleased to announce that the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) - Longlac will reopen on Tuesday, August 4, with regular programming resuming at the Centre.
To assist with the transition, the scheduled bus trip to Geraldton will still operate on Tuesday, August 4 for participants wishing to attend Carpet Bowling. Following this date, transportation to Geraldton will no longer be provided, as programming will once again be available at the SALC - Longlac.
Residents are encouraged to watch for the August SALC Newsletter, which will include the full schedule of activities and programs available at the Longlac Centre.
The Municipality is pleased to confirm that programming is scheduled throughout the month of August and remains committed to ensuring the continued success of the SALC - Longlac. Staff are actively working toward a long-term staffing solution that will support the ongoing delivery of programs and services for local seniors. Updates will be shared with the community as they become available.
The Municipality would like to thank residents for their patience, understanding, and continued support during this transition. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Longlac Centre and continuing to provide opportunities for older adults to stay active, engaged, and connected within the community.

Following the recent announcement regarding the temporary closure of the Greenstone Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) - Longlac, the Municipality is pleased to advise that SALC programming continues for Longlac residents.
To ensure participants can continue enjoying programs and staying connected, the Municipality is offering the following programs throughout the month of August:

- Mondays - 11:00 a.m. | Asian Walking🚶
- Fridays - 11:00 a.m. | Chair Exercises🪑
👥 In-Person Programs in Geraldton
Free transportation from Longlac is provided.
- Tuesdays - 1:00 p.m. | Carpet Bowling🎳
🚌Bus departs the SALC - Longlac at 12:30 p.m. and departs Geraldton at 3:00 p.m. - Fridays - 12:30 p.m. | Bingo🎱
🚌Bus departs the SALC - Longlac at 11:45 a.m. and departs Geraldton at 2:00 p.m.
Virtual and in-person programming in Geraldton will continue to be offered while the Municipality recruits a new SALC Coordinator for the Longlac Centre. Be sure to watch for the monthly SALC newsletters to stay up to date on upcoming activities and schedules!
