🚧Geraldton Main Street Rehabilitation Project Update🚧
May 26, 2026
Contractors are preparing to begin work on the Geraldton Main Street Rehabilitation Project.
The work zone currently covers the area from south of the Municipal Administration Building through to Benner Avenue, with the initial phase of construction focusing on the section from Edith Avenue northward to Queen Avenue.
Construction activities will progress northward in approximately 200–300 metre sections to help minimize disruptions to residents, businesses, and traffic.
Over the next 7–10 days, residents can expect to see:
- Installation of project signage and traffic control measures
- Installation and commissioning of the temporary water system that will provide potable water service to affected properties during construction
- Installation of a dewatering system used to lower the water table during underground infrastructure work such as piping installation
The dewatering system will be installed in a manner that minimizes impacts to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Equipment and construction materials will continue arriving in Geraldton over the coming weeks, with construction expected to continue throughout the summer and into late fall.
Residents directly affected by temporary service interruptions or alternate water hookups will be contacted directly by the contractor in advance.
The Municipality thanks residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation as these important infrastructure improvements move forward.
