Brush Cutting and Vegetation Control Project Resuming

The Municipality of Greenstone advises residents that the Brush Cutting and Vegetation Control Project is scheduled to resume.

Work will take place in the following areas:

• Geraldton - various locations, primarily along snowmobile trails.
• Jellicoe - the North-South Cut.

As work progresses:

• Brush and vegetation piles previously placed along the cut areas will be chipped or mulched.
• As an alternative to chipping or mulching, the contractor may selectively harvest and remove cut trees and wood from the site where appropriate.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of August 2026.

Safety Reminder

Please stay clear of active work zones. Hazards include moving equipment, falling trees, and other forestry-related activities.

For your safety:

• Do not approach operating machinery.
• Ensure equipment operators can see you if you need to pass through the area.

The Community Wildfire Prevention (Vegetation Control) Project was funded through the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) FireSmart program and the 2026 Fire Protection Services Reimbursement - Unincorporated Ontario revenues. This approach utilizes available provincial funding sources and has no additional impact on the municipal tax levy.
