Municipal Closures - National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an important day to remind all Canadians to take time to reflect on the intergenerational harm that the Residential School systems caused to Indigenous Peoples across the country. We encourage all residents to take this opportunity to recognize the strength and resiliency of Indigenous peoples. May we all reflect on what actions we will take to move forward with reconciliation. The Every Child Matters flag will be raised at the Municipal Administration Office on Monday, September 29, 2025, in accordance with the Municipality of Greenstone’s Flag Policy. This policy provides guidance on the display of flags at municipal facilities to ensure recognition is given in a respectful, consistent, and inclusive manner.

Please be advised that all municipal offices and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Garbage collection that normally occurs on Tuesday has been rescheduled to Monday September 29, 2025

Residents are encouraged to participate in local events, which are listed below.
