Longlac Sportsplex – Construction Update

Work continues to get the Longlac Sportsplex ready for the upcoming season. Municipal staff are working overtime to prepare the ice for use, while construction crews continue working to ensure the Sportsplex is ready to safely welcome users back.

The arena portion of the facility is expected to open by the end of next week.

When the Sportsplex opens, not all areas of the facility will be accessible. Construction and restoration work will continue in portions of the building, and temporary access arrangements or restrictions will remain in place until further notice. Facility users are asked to follow all posted signage and directions while work continues.

Renovation work also continues at the Geraldton Community Centre. Municipal staff and construction crews continue to work toward preparing the facility for the upcoming season. A further update on the Geraldton Community Centre, including anticipated opening timelines, will be provided next week.

At this time, the Beardmore Curling Club and Nakina Curling Club are expected to open on schedule for the upcoming curling season.

The Municipality would like to extend a sincere thank you to the construction crews and our staff for the significant effort and additional hours being put in to prepare our recreation facilities for the community.

We also thank residents, user groups, athletes and families for their continued patience and understanding. We recognize how important these facilities are to our communities and appreciate everyone’s cooperation as this work continues.

Further updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
