Fire Damages Portion of Longlac Sportsplex

A fire broke out overnight at the Longlac Sportsplex, causing damage to a section of the building.

According to early reports, the fire affected the ceiling area in the southeast portion of the facility, specifically above the lobby, office, vestibule, and changeroom areas. The extent of the structural damage is still being assessed.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and officials have not yet released further details regarding the origin or contributing factors.

Volunteer firefighters from the Longlac, Geraldton and Nakina stations were all dispatched. We are very grateful for the efforts of all Stations involved.

Due to the damage, the Longlac Sportsplex will be closed and unavailable for use for the foreseeable future. Residents are advised that updates regarding the facility’s status and next steps will be provided in the coming days.
