UPDATED Water Conservation Notice – Longlac Ward

The Municipality of Greenstone is requesting that all residents and businesses in the Longlac Ward voluntarily reduce their water consumption while staff complete the commissioning of the new filtration system at the Longlac Water Treatment Plant.

The exact length of the conservation request is yet to be determined. Project engineers will inform the Municipality when the conservation can be lifted. At this time the expectation is 1-2 weeks.

Commissioning is the final stage of bringing the new filters into service. During this process, water demand must be carefully managed to allow the treatment plant to operate efficiently while ensuring the continued production of safe, high-quality drinking water.

How You Can Help

Residents and businesses are asked to temporarily limit non-essential water use by:

• Postponing lawn watering.
• Delaying vehicle, driveway, and exterior building washing.
• Waiting to fill swimming pools or hot tubs.
• Running dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.
• Conserving water wherever possible throughout the day.

Why This Is Important

Reducing water demand during this period helps maintain adequate water storage and system pressure while the new filtration equipment is being placed into operation.

Water conservation also helps ensure there is sufficient water available for:

• Emergency fire protection and firefighting operations;
• Everyday household needs throughout the community.
