Animal Control and Licences

The Municipality of Greenstone enforces our animal-related by-law and responds to your animal concern to make our community safe. The Municipality operates and maintains one dog pound located in the Geraldton Ward.

Report a concern

You can report a concern if you notice an animal by-law infraction. For example, you can file a complaint if you see a dog without a leash, an owner not cleaning up after its dog on other people's property or an animal posing a threat to your safety.

Lost and found pets

If your pet goes missing, contact our Animal Control Officer to confirm if the dog has been impounded.

When pets are found by an Animal Control Officer, we do everything we can to contact its owner and bring it home safely. Any pet that is lost or found at a dog pound will acquire a pound fee of $30.00 per day.

The Animal Control Officer (ACO) responds to dog concerns and may carry out patrols throughout Greenstone.
