Province Invests $749,050 in Upgrades to the Geraldton Community Centre

The Municipality of Greenstone welcomed The Honourable Kevin Holland, MPP for Thunder Bay–Atikokan, to Geraldton on December 16 to announce a significant provincial investment supporting major upgrades to the Geraldton Community Centre.
The Ontario government is investing $749,050 through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) to modernize and enhance the facility. The funding supports a broader $1.5 million total renovation project, representing a major municipal investment in community recreation infrastructure. The project ensures the facility continues to serve residents across Greenstone and the surrounding area for years to come.
Funding will be used to complete a series of key improvements throughout the Community Centre, including the installation of all new energy-efficient LED lighting to improve visibility, enhance safety, and reduce long-term operating costs. The project also includes the construction of a new, accessible main entrance, creating a safer and more welcoming experience for facility users.
Additional upgrades include the installation of new arena boards, enhancing safety for athletes and supporting local hockey, skating programs, tournaments, and community events. Other improvements throughout the facility will address interior and infrastructure needs, ensuring the building remains functional, inclusive, and energy efficient.
Municipal officials expressed their appreciation for Mr. Holland’s visit to Geraldton and for the Province’s continued investment in rural and northern communities.
Further updates, including construction timelines and project milestones, will be shared as plans are finalized.
