Zoning

The Municipality of Greenstone's Official Plan determines zoning by-laws to plan how we use land in our community. These zoning by-laws divide our land into different land use zones for specific uses (commercial and residential) and standards.

How to re-zone

You may apply for a zoning change if you want to use or develop your property in a way that is not allowed by a current zoning by-law. This change is known as a zoning by-law amendment or re-zoning.

Before you apply to re-zone, please contact us to book a pre-consultation. We can help determine if your application can be made and provide additional information.

Please note

You may not be able to apply to re-zone if:

  • The new use is not allowed in an Official Plan
  • You are changing a community planning permit by-law within five years of it being passed. However, Council can decide to pass a resolution to allow your application.
