Age Profile

In 2016, Greenstone had an older population compared to the provincial average. Statistics show that the percentage of the total population of the ages of 50 to 74 is higher than the provincial average, while the percentages for those aged 15 to 39 is below the provincial average. 

Language Characteristics

The following table indicates 66.8% of resident in Greenstone speak English only, and this percentage is lower than Ontario.  There are 31% of residents in Greenstone who are bilingual (English and French) which is significantly higher than Ontario.

Mobility Characteristics

The mobility rates for the residents of Greenstone are similar to the provincial average. 

Level of Education

The following chart and table indicate the level of education attainment in Greenstone in 2016.

  • Roughly 76% of Greenstone residents have a certificate, diploma or degree. This is lower than the overall provincial average.
  • The percentage of persons with a university education is significantly less than the provincial average, however the percentage of persons with a college education or trade certificate is higher than the provincial average.

Income

Indicators show that in 2015, the average total median income levels (including transfer payments) were higher in Greenstone than in Ontario.

The following table indicates that in 2015 that Greenstone residents earned a higher median employment income compared to the Ontario average.

While the individual median income in Greenstone was higher, the household income levels are lower than Ontario.
