Senior Volunteer In Service (SVIS) Program
North of Superior's SVIS program is a “friendly visiting” service that provides seniors who live alone with companionship and fellowship from another senior. Visits can take place in the home, in a care facility, or in any location that the senior resides. Volunteers provide companionship by playing cards, having tea, sharing conversation, helping seniors with shopping/appointments and taking them to community events. Volunteer mileage is reimbursed through the program and regular workshops are available for volunteers to keep abreast of seniors’ issues and participate in skill development training. The service is operated through senior volunteers and is available in all North of Superior communities.
