Wildlife Viewing & Birdwatching

Nestled in the heart of the boreal forest, the Greenstone Region is home to many unique species of flora and fauna.

Towering white and jack pine, rugged spruce and even rare species of alpine disjuncts burrow their roots here and wild blueberries blanket the forest floor.

Here the moose, black bear, wolf and lynx are common lords of the northern scape while beaver, mink, and otter rule the lake waters.

For bird lovers, over 200 species dwell in Greenstone including the Bald Eagle, American Kestrel, Great Blue Heron and Osprey who hunt our skies and shores and songsters like the many warblers, thrushes and finches who sing melodiously in the spruce tops.  For birdwatching and wildlife viewing opportunities, experience the Barton Bay Wildlife Trail.
