Junior Inter-Region Championships 2009

The Northern Ontario Inter-Region 3-4 Junior Competition was held in Little Current Nov. 27-29. with the top two boys and girls teams advancing to the Northern Ontario Provincial Championship to be held at Fort William Curling Club in Thunder Bay, December 18-20. Geraldton was represented by the Junior Girls team of Madelyn Pristanski, Kirsti Davis, Jillian Kranjc, Sarah Duffus and Coach Julie Davis who had a record of 1-3 for the weekend.

 
Congratulations to the Geraldton Junior Boys team of Kristofer Leupen, Jay Turner, Brady Trottier, Josh Wenzoski and Coach Karen Saarimaki who were 4-0 and now advance to the Northern Ontario Provincial Championship to be held at Fort William Curling Club in Thunder Bay, December 18-20. Good luck boys!

 

Bantam Boys Provincial Champs

Geraldton's Bantam Boys Curling team captured the Provincial Championship for the second year in a row. The 2009 champs (skip Jay Turner, vice Brady Trottier, second Josh Wenzoski, lead Matt Turner and coach Karen Saarimaki) travelled to Sudbury to compete in the Provincial Championship and returned home victorious. Jay Turner was chosen by the curlers at the competition as the all-star skip and for the sportsmanship award with Brady Trottier chosen as the all-star vice. Jay Turner and Wenzoski were members of last year's champs, the Kris Leupen team. More information available here.
