On March 12th-15th the Geraldton Curling Club hosted its annual Men's Curling Bonspiel. There were 14 teams involved with lots of local flare. The final of the spiel came down to the former local Mike Assad's rink and Geraldton's own Cory Nephin team. It was a see-saw battle the entire way and it came down to the last end tied. Justin Whitehurst from the Assad team made an amazing run back double to get the buried Nephin rock off the button leading to the Assad team squeaking out the bonspiel win. The Assad rink also included Bill Assad and Dwayne Sutherland. Other event winners included Taw Connors in the B event, Roger Lemieux in the C and Claude Beaulieu the D. It was a great weekend that was capped off by an excellent meal Saturday night prepared by local Erin Symington with help from Daneff's Food Market's prime rib which garnered rave reviews from all the curlers. See you all next year!!
