DISCOVER GREENSTONE KICKS OFF THE SUMMER SEASON

GERALDTON – June 3, 2011 - Tourism Week (June 6-12) is a national celebration to promote awareness of the tourism industry. Discover Greenstone is encouraging locals and visitors to visit the Greenstone Visitor Information Centres with locations in Geraldton at the Interpretive Centre perched over Hwy 11 and the Longlac Visitor Information Centre, to learn more about what Greenstone has to offer.

To celebrate Greenstone, the Municipality has partnered with Geraldton Community Forest and launched “The Discover Greenstone 2011 Summer Contest”. Anyone who visits the Visitor Centres or the Northern Store in Nakina or Melanson’s Groceries in Beardmore can enter to win one of three great prizes; 1) Two-Nights Stay In Thunder Bay, sponsored by Wasaya Airways LP; 2) One Week Stay At McLeod Provincial Park, sponsored by Geraldton Community Forest; or 3) Two Free Rounds of Golf & a Power Cart sponsored by Kenogamisis Golf Club.

“With so much to see and do right here in Greenstone, I encourage everyone to get out and explore the region this summer. What better way to share with visitors but your own experiences. Why not create your own Greenstone Travel Story to share on the Greenstone Portal so visitors can see first-hand the beauty and opportunities found in our backyards. “So be a tour guide in your hometown and get out and fill in your ballot to WIN!!”, encouraged Brent Henley, Tourism Coordinator for the Municipality of Greenstone.
