The Municipality of Greenstone has 7 signing officers throughout Greenstone who have the authority to commission documents requiring a "Commissioner of Oaths,” or a “Commissioner for Taking Affidavits.” The powers of a Commissioner are limited to acts involving affidavits and statutory declarations. An oath, affirmation or declaration must be taken in the presence of the Commissioner. You will be required to present one original piece of government-issued photo identification (no copies permitted) i.e. a valid driver's licence, when taking your declaration in the presence of a Commissioner. There is no fee for REGULAR COMMISSIONING tasks, Real estate & wills have a $25.00 charge (effective January 1, 2013).
Commissioners of Oaths / For Taking Affidavits are not Notary Publics. The Municipality of Greenstone does not have a Notary Public and cannot notarize documents.
