The Ontario Native Women's Association was established to promote the betterment and quality of Aboriginal women. The Ontario Native Women's Association is a provincial organization founded in 1972 which represents Aboriginal women and their families on matters that affect the political, social, education, economic, and justice issues of our daily lives. The Association has over 80 local volunteer organizations, both on and off reserve communities. The local organizations are divided into 4 regions within Ontario (North, South, East, and West). Affiliated with the Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC), the ONWA represents Aboriginal women in the province of Ontario, regardless of status or locality.
