CN Railway
Construction of the railway began in 1912, linking Port Arthur Ontario(Thunder Bay) to Sudbury Ontario. This opened these areas North and East of Nipigon. New opportunities emerged and hundreds of jobs were created along the rail line.
The only communication in the area was the telegraph system on the rail line and a private telephone system that was used by the Dispatcher for the controlling of the train traffic.
Between Beardmore and the Lakehead, the train was the only transportation until the completion of the highway in the 40's.
The communities were disappointed when the last train went through in 2005.
